One end of a telephone conversation between an attending at work and an attending at an outside hospital:
"You're refusing to do the stem cell transplant because she's in poor condition? But that's part of the disease and the only way to fix it is to do the transplant. So have you taken transplant completely off the table?"
"What do you mean you told her that if she got better she could be transplanted? She's going to come back here and expect me to be able to do something, when all that can be done has except transplant."
"Well, yes, I'm sure it is fine with you if I tell her there is nothing more to be done. Thank you so much."
