Marco Rubio, R-FL, has publicly stated that he will not back any more short term stop-gap budget plans. He says he didn't go to the Senate to be part of some absurd political theater.
Well, Mr. Rubio, apparently you have no choice in that, having already been visited by Big Bird and had to listen to Harry Reid sobbing over the loss of Cowboy Poetry. While I agree with your stance on the stop-gap budget bills you really should be thinking larger.
The $61 billion in cuts being pushed by the Republicans is not worth all this ludicrous absurdity. It's like spitting on a million acre forest blaze to put it out. If your fellow representatives insist on subjecting us, the taxpayers, to all these theatrics, could you not at least make it worthwhile? Make some real cuts. Do something that will actually make a difference. Stop quibbling over the cost of bubble gum.
Mr. Rubio, the voting public was very clear last November about our priorities and subjecting us to this level of melodrama for what are essentially worthless measures that will mean nothing in the overall financial crisis was not on that list.
We sent you there to go big, Mr. Rubio. So go big or be sent home.
