President Obama, you gave the order. You, of your own volition, sent more of America's servicemen and women into harm's way. This one belongs solely to you and you have no cover. So could you please, just this once, do the right thing and also give them a clear goal and the support needed to complete the mission and come home?
These brave people will do whatever it takes to achieve the goal they are given and it would be nice if you, their Commander-in-Chief, were willing to do whatever it takes to see them through.
You owe them protection from the harassment of anti-war protesters.
You owe them structure and clear communication and access to the equipment needed to do the job.
You owe them public support of the job they are doing.
You owe it to them to see that their families are safe and cared for while they're gone and that the families of those who don't make it home continue get what they need.
You owe it to them to see that when they come home this nation continues to do well by those who would place themselves between it and danger.
I know that you are not in the habit of accepting responsibility, that doing the right thing is foreign to your nature, but you gave the order, Mr. Obama, with the entire nation watching and it's up to you to follow through on the promise implicit in that order to those who serve.
If you need to pretend to yourself that they are union members in order to do so, you go right ahead. Whatever it takes means just that.
Ding-ding-ding! We have a winnah!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding. Now if only the poor little feller had a set and would actually do the right thing(s).
